The Drayton Florence Foundation and Marion County Children’s Alliance are dedicated to raising a healthier generation by educating children and families on healthy eating habits and the importance of fitness activities in their daily lives.
On August 22, 2015 Ocala was presented with the Annual “Glo With The Flo” 5K Glo Run, through the collaboration between Drayton Florence Foundation and MCCA. Historic downtown Ocala was illuminated with participants winding through its streets. Thank you to all the runners for coming out to support! We had a great time.
Thank you to all the volunteers, supporters and sponsors.
Proceeds of this event will allow us to continue providing accessible and affordable food and physical activity to our youth. One such event, The Back to School Bash, provides over 1800 families with free healthcare checks and school supplies.
Childhood obesity has become an epidemic among Marion County children and youth. A 2012 Marion County Health Department assessment of first, third and sixth-graders identified 26% as clinically obese and 19% as overweight – resulting in almost 46% of Marion County’s children being evaluated as overweight or worse!
